    Newbie Greetings!

    Hello all,
I'm new to the NCRS Discussion Boards. I'm a native Oregonian and have been a member of the NCRS for about 4 years but have not been active. I went to a regional meet a couple of years ago but felt like an outsider to the click of members that seemd to know each other fairly well. This year I'm stepping up my engagement and will particpate in the local NW chapter at least the regional meet

I'm in pursuit of a vintage vette (either a 65-66 mid-year or 69-72 chrome bumper) but am picky and the search is slow. I purchased my first vette: A 2006 Z51 convertible, new in 2006. Love the car. It quenched my appetitie for a short period but not my passion for a classic vette. Maybe this year will be the year I find my vintage vette!

I'm active in local car shows, attend a national show once a year (Bloomington, Carlise etc) and fairly regularly post on Motortopia, CorvetteForum and DigitalCorvette websites.

I realize this forum has more of a technical/research focus, so I probably won't be posting a lot until I develop questions about potential vettes of interest/purchase or obtain one but I will be here regulary to see whats going on. If its inappropiate for casual discussion, feel free to send me a private message or visit me on Motortopia (I have provided a link on my profile).

I'm excited to be here and hope to be engaged in disussions with many of you soon

Welcome to the board. You have come to the right place for Corvette knowledge. The guys and gals who post here are some of the most knowledgable in the business. A regional event can be a little intimidating the first time you attend, but you will find they are just as friendly in person as on this board. Good luck in your quest for an older Corvette and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions. Better to ask before you buy than after.

when you go to the NW chapter/regional meets. look up Dennis Clark, Rick Reid, and Bert Lukens--tell them you've got cocktails in the vette, invite them over for a drink, and you won't be able to get loose of them .welcome to NCRS and the tdb. look me up at Carlisle in august at the Mid Atlantic chapter tent. bring beer. mike

          Hi Jeff,
I'm glad you've decided to frequent the BOARD more regularly.
I'd like to encourage you to think 68-72. There are many cars that need a GOOD home!
          Regards,
          Alan

Welcome Jeff! Good luck on you're search. The right one will come along. Exciting fun looking for it.

25 years ago I hunted for a 59. I still feel the excitement I had the day I drove one home....a year later. I think I slept next to it in the garage that night.

Hi Steve, Here is my Baby! When I went to the local Chevy dealer to purchase one, I found that I had to special order it. At least at the time the combination of Silver, convertible, manual transmission and Z51 package was not available anywhere in the western states (we checked on the GM web site for vehicle searches but nothing came up).
As a chance encounter, the gentlemen that helped me place the order and sold me the car is a local NCRS member: Jerry Hickey. Very nice guy. I don't remember for sure but thought that he had (has) a burgundy 1962. We spoke about the NCRS and vinatge vettes for some time that day. He almost talked me out of buying a new one! ALMOST
