I have a '73 with A/C and I need to replace the headlight actuator's. I can't seem to get them out. My question is, does the A/C condenser have to be removed in order to get the actuator's out?

Re: Removing headlight actuators
Hi Chris,
I looked in my 71 Chassis Service Manual and there's no mention of the condenser.
It only notes to "slide them down", to get them out. Sorry!

Re: Removing headlight actuators
My manual say's the same thing, however the A/C condenser is definately in the way. What I'm calling the A/C condenser is a radiator looking thing that sets in front of the radiator.- Top

Re: Removing headlight actuators
Chris:
The A/C condensor does not have to come out. If memory serves, I removed mine from my '69 with A/C from the bottom. You will need to turn them every which way to find just the right angle to get them through. I also think I removed the front grills for access.

Re: Removing headlight actuators
Chris,
I just removed mine, had them replated, and reinstalled them on my '73. I don't have a/c but I wouldn't think it would make a difference. I first raised headlights, removed front grills, took off the four bolts holding the actuators, and was able to remove them through the gap in the open hood. If you have a nice paint job put some tape on your hood first!
There a good how to with pics on corvette magazine

Good luck,

Re: Removing headlight actuators
Thanks for the help. After thinking about it all last night, I realized, with the hood open the actuator's couldn't raise enough to clear the bracket they bolt into. With the hood down, they're come out of the bracket and slide out the grill opening!! Another mystery solved. Thanks again guy's.- Top
