Re: Bumper bolt nuts
Gary, I realize most of this topic is about the nuts. But the flat washers are also a concern. The ones in the kits are totally incorrect although the bumpers won't fall off if you use them. You know the rest. Keep up the good work. I love playing with the hardware and making kits but it's strictly a labor of love. No money in it. Just tonight I spent several hours separating cad plated hardware. Last night my soon spent several hours helping me with my screw kits. It is relaxing and hopefully it helps our hobby in our strive for perfection. Thank, JD
P.S. I read all the posts on this subject and I thought I would add that the most obvious thing about judging the bumper hardware is not in fact whether a car has 5/8 or 11/16" OD nuts as you are only talking 1/16". The key factor in my humble opinion is the flat washers. THe ones in the kit are extremely thick and not even close. The correct flat washers are thin SAE flat washers. These washers stand out even if you only glance at the hardware. The nuts do not. I mean a judge doesn't carry a wrench or ruler in most cases to check the nuts. JD
