Michigan NCRS video, John Hinckley testimonial, important to John's selection to HOF

I hope you will enjoy watching the video created by Steve Rhode (NCRS Michigan member) that features Howard Hoover (Michigan Chapter Chairman) presenting the Michigan Chapter testimonial which is part of the material submitted for John Hinckley's successful selection to the National Corvette Museum's Hall of Fame.

Click on the Michigan home page: http://www.michiganncrs.org/

Click on videos on the left and select the Hinckley presentation video that is in the list.

election process took 3 years, which people tell me is a somewhat normal timeframe for nomination to election.

I was able to document unusual commitment to our restoration passion and contributions by John as a GM employee as the basis for the nomination material. John was Michigan Chapter Chairman for six years, with the chapter achieving a Chapter of the Year or Top Flight Chapter award during 3 of those years.

Alex gave me 3 GM patents that John initiated which improved quality and reduced the number of versions of many parts which reduced cost, as proof points relative to John's contribution to Corvette and GM.
Along with the relevant GM contributions, his continuous, in-depth, no-dumb-questions technical help and encouragement on the Internet is a second track. John has written over 40,000 posts answering questions and support to make the hobby/passion more complete over 5 different Corvette discussion forums.

In my personal case, I looked for a way 4 plus years ago to thank John for all his help. I contacted the Corvette Museum exchanging emails with Wendell Strode, who runs the museum . His suggestion was to consider nominating John to the Hall of Fame.

As you will see on the video, I added my background/feelings at the Michigan meeting as I prepared the nomination which I hope most of you relate to. Hopefully my discussion reflects your feelings as well as mine.
The nomination and its updates each year include over 400 pages of material. There is a DVD of forum posts, dialogue between John and Joe Rajacic, Classic Car Storage of Reno, as Joe achieved a 98 point car, 3 years of articles written by John for the NCRS "Restorer" and Corvette Enthusiast magazine, Michigan legislation which John championed which reduces insurance cost for classic cars, and his participation in Bloomington Gold and Corvettes of Carlisle.

Bill Wenzel (CRPL member), Beverly LeGate (director NCRS), and Carolyn Mausley (secretary NCRS) provided insight and expertise at critical times as well.

Again, thanks to those that helped me in this effort. Enjoy the video.......

    Hi Len,
    Thanks for your post.
John is one of those VERY rare persons who has remembered more than most of us have forgotten. AND he's willing to share his knowledge with anyone who shows an interest.
    Regards,
    Alan
