    Carburator Rebuilding

    Hello:
Just wondering if Bob Kuntz in St. Louis is still in business? Have not seen
his ad in Hemmings for a while. He has done a few carburators for me and
has done a real nice job.

    Thanks; Larry

    Larry,
Like you Bob Kunz had done all my carbs over the years. I needed some help with my Q-Jet recently and contacted Bob. Seems he is not wanting to take on much new work and what he does take on may have a lengthy lead time.

I had Bob restore a carb for me recently. He is semi-retired, but still in business. He was about ready to do some remodeling the last time I talked to him, so he may not be accepting new work temporarily.

Larry, I assume your talking about a Holley carburetor. After talking to several other carburetor restorers, I left with the imprssion that most of them were either too booked up, or quite frankly, didn't really want to do the job,..... unless begged.
I turned to Holley's custom shop, and was extremely pleased. I have included a pic of my original 1967 tri-power Holley carbs, after getting them back from the Holley Custom shop (with an 10 week turn-around).
As you can see, the dichromate plating is exactly as they left Holley, back in 1967. This plating is rarely seen as original, from other carb rebuilders.
I insisted that my carbs would be rebuilt with their original external parts, and that's exactly what I received back. The lone exception was a base plate, that was too far gone, and Holley replaced it with a restored original (after contacting me for approval).
I would recommend your consideration of their work. PM me is you need additional info or contact information. Their website is Holley Performance Products. Hope this helps. Ridge.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .

Bob did my tripower about a year ago. They came out real nice and fuctioned great. On mine, I didn't want the factory new look because of the rest of the car is more original like. He delivered nicely. I contacted Chuck Smith, but he had quite a backlog. I suggest that you get a replacement carb and send yours off in September so you'll have them back in March or April and that's only if you're in a hurry.

"Larry, I assume your talking about a Holley carburetors.. "

Actually, they do Rochester, Carter, and Autocraft carbs too. I haven't tried them but their work looks very good. Seems like good advice.

Bob has my dual quads now. Sent them up just a couple weeks ago. Great guy.
