    J-56 Brake option

I want to know if the option J-56 was only in the front caliper. The rear caliper use dual pin?

Rear J56 H.D. setup used the single pin configuration of the standard disk brake '65-7 caliper. The linings were bonded (not riveted) and had a higher metallic content than the standard 4-wheel pads of the regular brakes. There was a 1st design and 2nd design 1967 rear (and front) caliper piston, though.

I'll let others get into the fine points .

      Luis and Wayne-----

The rear caliper halves used for 1965-E67 (1st design) and L67-75 (2nd design) were, with respect to each design, the same for both standard, J-50 power, and J-56. All were single pin.

As Wayne mentioned, the disc brake pads, both front and rear, used for J-56 applications were unique to J-56.

For 1st design, the front and rear brake pistons with insulators were the same for both standard, J-50 power, and J-56 power. However, for 2nd design, things changed. For 2nd design, the standard and J-50 power brakes used all-aluminum, non-insulated pistons. J-56 used pistons, front and rear, which included an insulator. These differed from the 1st design by being considerably thicker (and, with a consequently thinner piston).
