    C2 Body Lines

I was comparing a 63 'survivor' to my 64. It was obvious that the sharp lines have been hurt with a sander but I was wondering about the 'spine'. Is the 63 spine more prominent that other vets?

Is it a major job ($$$$) for a body shop to restore the crisper lines?

    Bud.

I was not aware of the spine being more prominent on the 63. Maybe there is something I don't know. I would think it would be a major project to restore the actual crisp lines that may have been eroded away by a sander.

      Bud,

The 63 "spine" as you call it is not any sharper. I think that the fact that it runs ALL THE WAY from the windshield to the top of the fuel door opening that it may be an optical illusion making it look sharper. I have 3 mid year coupe in the shop right now (one a split window) and they are all the same.
If the line needed to be worked would not add anything much to the paint job. Almost all mid years need their. lines massaged.

Thanks for the replies. Rich, if you don't mind answering and if you are still on line, are the lines massaged with glass or body filler?

          Bud,

It all depends on how much material has been removed. So it could be either. If it is just cosmetic then filler will do but if it structural then glass would be required.

I've been collecting photos of the spine tip on the rear deck of C2 convertibles for the past several years.

Its amazing the variations I've seen on how the spine past the gas door tapers off into the rear deck at the tail-lamp panel.
