    Help with replacement tires

    Hello all!
I'm in need of assistance in fitting my '63 coupe with good quality "Driver" tires.
My car, although appearing original to a "novice" ncrs'er has had a replacement frame, parts and another '63 engine, so although it's immaculate and recently restored,..I still baby the car and would like to enjoy driving it with modern tires that look really cool/sporty.

I've got bolt-on knock off's that I purchased new about 5-6 yrs ago and would like the largest size tire I can buy without the risk of anything rubbing/hitting the body that will fit those wheels.

Can anyone recommend a size and brand tire that will look great and fit?
I'm not looking for low-profile tires, but rather something more like a BF Goodrich Radial TA or Good Year Eagle, etc.. and most likely black wall.

    Thanks in advance!

Jeff, go with 215/75/15. little more rubber on the road and no rubbing issues. I put 205's on mine and wish I had stepped up one size. Bill.

There has been lots of discussion on tires - so do a search on the subject for some good info. (sizes, off sets, . .)

I run Michelin Pilot 205/65/15, its a nice soft tire. The lower profile gives an added level of protection and a little wider tire on road. Have 215/70 on rear, but if I had to do over would stay with the 205/65.
As I recall the 215 are not recommended, may hit. (Have never figured out why mine work, but do not take chance)

You will find a lot in the archives on tires - check it out. The search works well. I had a thread last year about this time on the topic and ended up following several recommendations for 215/70 R15s from Pirelli. The Pirelli P4000 SuperTouring tires have been great. I mounted them on 15x6 American Torque Thrust D's. Bought them through Tire Rack who guaranteed the combination would fit on my 66 Roadster... they were right! I'm not sure if the knock-offs change the equation at all but you'll probably find some info in the archives on that issue.

Good luck and have fun driving.
