    c-1 58 horn installation

    Hi,

just got a set of original horns and hard ware. Do I need to remove the hood to install or is there a way to get them in?
    Thanks Susan

The hood, or the grille, or the radiator and motor so you can camp inside. Sorry about the bad news. On a 61-61, because the trumpet on the horn is smaller, you can occasionally snake one in. Not 56-60.

Thanks Mike---I guess. You saved me some work and frustration! I have to pull the radiator on my '57 so I guess I better pull the horns, restore them and replace them before I replace the radiator.

      I appreciate the information!

Thanks, I kind of knew that but thought there might be a way, I did the rad this summer and hood took hours to fit.... here I go again.

You can install the horns by removing a couple of the grill teeth on each side. There is no need to remove the hood, the radiator or entire grill.

If you remove a few teeth in the grille, be sure to use blue tape on the chromed cross piece. You will be rubbing a bunch on it installing the horn and you can scratch the chrome. Its not a fun job, especially if you have big hands.
