    Smoking

1in10 times when I take my 66 big block for a ride especially in the hot summer months, I"ll bring my car back and if I let it idle for 15 minutes or so ,it will smoke only out of the right exhaust. The smoke color is white and maybe a little blue. Like I said, not every time. what could be the causes?

Harry, you're not going to like this, but sounds like a coolent leak into one of the cylinders. Hope not. Bill.

Thanks for responding! my coolant is still full to the top as it has been for years. Do you still think that could be the reason ?

        Harry,

My vote is for valve guide seals and wear in valve guides. If it's not using any abnormal amount of oil I would leave it alone.

Agreed. Could be that your car only likes being driven 9 times out of ten

            Harry,

Check to see if you heat riser is opening all the way or at all. Sometimes it is rusted shut and on an extended cruise the RH exhaust will warm up and give off a little gas. Yes, your car will run with the heat riser completely shut. At least for a while until the valves become angry.

Valve seals fixed my smoking problem. Lucky! DUTCH
