I replaced the headlight switch about 6 months ago and everything has been fine. Last night got ready to head out to Dairy Queen and no headlights. On parking mode front and rear lights okay. On headlight mode no headlights, but have tail lights. The reostat works fine with the dash lights and courtesy light. Any thoughts??

Re: 62 headlights
The 'typical' suspects include:
(1) The HL switch (use wiring diagram and verify power out of switch on the forward lamp circuit).
(2) The HL dimmer switch (often used as a common ground point + old/used switches can 'hang' between hi and lo beam settings).
(3) The firewall bulk head connector (bent and/or oxidized contact pins).
(4) Poor ground contact integrity at the headlamp(s) themselves.
It's a matter of simply tracing power from the switch up to the headlight(s) themselves...- Top

Re: 62 headlights
Don't forget the obvious, the lamps themselves. Did you check for both Low & High beams?
Like Jack mentions, it really is simply tracing the power path into and out of the headlight switch, through the dimmer switch and through the bulkhead connector and then again at each headlight connector. Just check it through your wiring diagram and use a voltmeter.
If you don't have a diagram let me know and I wil try to walk you through it.

Re: 62 headlights
Jack, I did mess with the dimmer switch wire while putting proper ties on the washer hoses. Used a drop light to check it out and found I only put the plug on two of the three terminals. Everything is fine now. Thanks so much I really appreciate your comments and help....John- Top
