I am removing a set of side pipes and was told I need to raise the body in order to weld the support brackets in place. Does anyone have a shortcut to reinstalling the rocker panel supports?

Re: rocker panel supports
Hi:
If you look at the shape of the supports, they are welded in two spots. The first face you could fasten with a sheetmetal screw, or might be able to sneak a tack weld in the front face where it mounts to the rocker panel sheetmetal support, without burning the outer fiberglass rocker panel if you are real careful, but if you want to do it properly, you need to lift the body to get access to the second point they are fastened to the rocker metal support. Maybe if there is some of the existing rocker panel support hanging down, you could cut new ones and splice them in.NCRS New England Chapter Chairman 2022, 2024

Re: rocker panel supports
Bob
I have a 65 that had sidepipes that did not belong.
The side rocker moulding brackets were cut off and hung down.
I bought new side rocker moulding brackets and had someown at a body
shop cut them and weld them on to the ones that hung down with out removing the body. You will also have to put the fiberglass ears on the
ends.
good luck
