Finish on C1 Internal Crankcase Breather Canister

Should this part be painted or bare metal ?

I am not aware of any part in contact with oil that is painted (i.e. inside of valve covers on base motors, inside of oil pan, etc).

Should I strip the paint off of it before installing it ?

Should I leave the inside of the timing cover bare metal as well ?

These parts were 'natural' for the reason you cited...do you want flakes of paint in the oil stream?

Jack - thanks for clarifying. That is what I thought. I just couldn't find this in any of my books.
