    Corvette Gascap question - C1

I am trying to find an original gas cap for my 1960. Two caps, one Fuller Emerson and one Standt, both were listed as Corvette caps and both didn't fit my car. Both matched the pictures in the Judging Manual.

Here is a photo of the FE cap and it has a 1.5" diameter (the circular part) flange.

Shouldn't my car have take a 1.375" flange ? That is the diameter of the locking cap and fuel neck on the car.

Starting to wonder if I have the wrong fuel neck but hopefully the 2 caps I bought were not listed correctly and I'lll return them. I thought the 1.5" cap was used on the passenger cars, not the Corvette.

    Mark,
I measured my Fuller Emerson (FE) cap on my 61. Outside it's 2 1/2 inches and the inner circle is approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Looks like yours is like that.

Many cars used the same cap and there filler neck was designed different then Corvette so you cant use a car gas cap, (any year) it might have been listed wrong. Because as many people have found out people steal caps ( isn't that nice) so I installed the dealer accessory locking gas cap as seen here that fits ONLY Corvette C1 and install the original only when doing the NCRS thing . Remember many parts are listed by part number which means little if you don't know what the part looks like.

Be careful when you buy that original cap that your fingers don't get burned. Why buy a $200 original that you will end up losing at a car show, when there is a good reproduction available for $75:

Plus, by buying repro, you are shrinking the market for the thieves.
