i have 2 cranks i took off when replacing them with nicer ones. i started looking them over and one stood out to me as a real deal crank. are the gm replacments judgable? they both have the button rivet to hold on the knob but the original is more depressed or flush and the ridges on the knob to not complete the bulls eye pattern on the very middle of the knob both are #5719477 the original has D 2 and new has C-7 and a wide V the box my new ones came in had #4468651 GR 10 797 HANDLE AY. bill

Re: correct 1966 window crank
now, i thought this would be a perfect question for the judging guys. i remember my manual refering to feeling the back for a screw but not abount the flushness if the rivet or button. also i do not remember a refrence to the resolution or definition of the ridges on the knob face. one of my men also noticed that on one (i have 3) replacment handle has a raised edge on the back of the handle and the original tapered to the back of it. all have the same part #- Top

Re: correct 1966 window crank
Hello, William,
Regarding the non-response, I'll take the lead.
Please do not take offense.
Maybe, I'm just dense, but, your posts appear to be a commentaries.
I could not discern what the question was, with the possible exeption of the reference to judgeability, of course everthing is judgeable.

Re: correct 1966 window crank
asking if the replacments that i described is a question. i remember the judging manual, which i have missplaced, mention "feeling behind the knob" to see if it was riveted or screwed on. the GM replacement units are riveted but not as flush as the original. i also wanted to know if the detail of the pattern is relavant or random. bill- Top
