    1971 LT-1 Judging Questions

    1. Is the PCV valve judged. Manual says holley equipped vehicles use a CV746C--is this the PCV #. If it is judged where o you get one with that number. Mine says 2072.

    2. Having the holley carb restored and replacing the fuel line and block because mine isn't brass. It says no sealing tape was used--what if anything should be used to seal the gas lines?

    3. My car was built 1/28/1971 and my starter is dated 12/10/1970 and is #1108338. It is all painted black. Can someone tell me how it should be painted or email me a picture if it is not supposed to be all black. Judging guide makes it sound like its all black.

    Thanks for your help. Paul

    Paul----

    1) The CV-746C is correct. As far as I know, it is judged. You can still get a CV-746C from Delco and GM. I don't know if the current CV-746C has that number embossed on the side. Until at least recently, it did, though. However, its configuration otherwise differs a bit from the originals and this will likely be detected. If you want an originally configured valve, you'll need to find an OLD NOS. Used CV-746C's are hard to find since they were used for very few applications.

    2) No sealing tape or sealant was used on the threads. These fittings are a flared type and seal by the flare being drawn tightly against the seat by the tubing nut. NO SEAL IS EFFECTED AT THE THREADS, AT ALL. So, the use of sealer or teflon tape will do absolutely no good, whatsoever.

    3) The starter should be painted black.

Thank you so much for your help Joe. As always you know the answer. Ordered a PCV off of ebay for $10. Again thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
