Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
Bummer. I just checked the website and it only shows info on the Nov 2008 show. Checking the web site for the organizing company shows no Chevy/VetteFest for 2009. I don't know what the story is but it would be a bummer. I've gone a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Was actually just thinking about looking up the info to head up in March but I guess I can chalk that one off the list. Does anyone have some info about why?Mike Andresen

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
Paul, I know there will be no spring show. I also know that Bob Ashton, who is a super guy and was very instrumental with the shows resurgence has been laid off. Hopefully Bob will land on his feet and there will be a fall show.- Top

Watch for Bob however, to resurface with another show production company. I wouldn't be surprised to see another Corvette theme show, with Bob running the show. Great guy.

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
The Spring show was cancelled a while back. Over the summer they decided to go to a once a year format -- Fall only. I would say it is no surprise to see nothing for Fall 2009 on the web site given this is barely February. On the other hand, with Bob Ashton's recent departure a whole other light is cast on the situation.Terry- Top

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
Not having the chance to show your car off one more time and getting the Triple Crown after the Duntov will be a loss. It was one nice trophy to put the iceing on the cake. For me it was relaxing to attend as your car was ready and the swap meet gave you something to do all weekend. Oh yes the food vendors had that pizza and lots of other great food options. I don't know the resturant but we ordered caryout delivered to the show sometimes. That meet was all about fun for me.Lyle

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
A friend of mine who has been a judge at Chevy/Vettefest for many years told me that Fall only is the new format. He has not gotten any word that it is being cancelled.
The Fall 2008 show was the largest show ever and the new location (Rosemont) has been well received.
Hopefully it will continue.- Top

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
Hey Santo - Good to see you on the TDB. We met a couple of years ago at the ILNCRS event down at Mid America. I had the 66 Trophy Blue Roadster that needed paint (still does!). I just went out to the Corvettes Unlimited web site but didn't see a date for the show in Joliet. When and where is it? It just may need to be placed on my calendar.Mike Andresen

Hi Mike,
I do remember you and It has been a long time.
We had a meeting last night and I brought it to our webmasters attention that the website needs to be updated.
The show will be at Bill Jacobs Chevrolet, Sunday April 19th, from 8am- 3 pm. It's an all indoor show and swap meet. Hope to see you there.

Re: Chicago Chevy/Vettefest
Chris, On Jan 31 I, and many others, received an email stating that Bob Ashton was dismissed from his job at Championship Auto Shows. I don't know that he was dismissed on the 31st -- it may have taken a while for the announcement to get out.
That email indicated that ChevyVetteFest might be doomed, and ultimately lead to this thread. It would appear that all of that took place following your communication with Bob.
I should point out that the communication did not say that the event was not going to continue -- it just stated the author thought it was doubtful the event could continue without Bob's expertise. We all should wait and see if there is any word coming from Championship Auto Shows.Terry- Top
