Re: Restoration battery
But it does "appear" as original and based on its proven service to me, and the trouble involved in replacing it, and no acid spills, I would rather swallow used motor oil than buy another real acid, real tar top battery.
Its as good as old technology gets!- Top

Re: Restoration battery
I purchased a maint/free tar top dated battery from Restoration Battery and am very happy in how it looks and works. I have a 65 396 and it's worth the money not to fool around with checking water levels up and under that fender. I think you would be happy with one. Good luck- Top

Re: Restoration battery
Jim,
Thru the years, I have purchased close to 50 batteries from Restoration Battery and have been happy with the battery and attention to detail by the owner of Restoration Battery, Tom Kobman.
The new Restoration Battery series offers the maintainence free battery if you choose that option. It's worth every penny just cause you don't have to worry about acid when installing the battery. It's also much stronger than the original tar top battery.
Restoration Battery has been advertising in the Driveline from day one.

Re: Restoration battery
My 63 has a real deal tar top battery. Yes the guys put their thumbprints in it but a little zippo fluid smooths the damage with no problem. It is nice not getting a 8 point plus deduct for a fake tar top.
On the hand I wouldn't want to drink my old Rotella T for sure.
But I have a sealed Tom Kobman battery as a backup. As I mentioned before his battery will just not discharge. The last time I saw a battery that good was when my old driver 63 had a sealed JC Penney battery. The JCP battery could sit for a year at a time and never discharge.- Top
