Blue steel valve covers

I have some steel valve covers with the early or staggered bolt pattern like on a 56. Thay have Chevrolet stamped on them and are painted blue not orange. Are these from a truck or simply painted by a previous owner?

In the early part of model year '57, passenger car 265 V8s were painted green, possibly to distinguish them from 283 V8s. Blue? Never heard of Chebby V8s being painted blue.

You might sand through the blue paint to see if there is any other color underneath.

Willard, Years ago there were some rumors that the very early 1955 265 V/8 engines were painted blue, (same color as the 1954 6 cyl engines) before "chev red" was introduced. We had a friend who had a very early s/n 55 Cameo truck thad had the V/8 painted blue. Barry Holmes
