    Steering column removal

I need to replace the firewall sound deadener and insulation on my coupe; the dash(and dash harness), steering wheel, seats are out. How do you remove the steering column with a 427 engine and brake booster complicating things? My Corvette shop manual and the AIM are rather sketchy on the details for removing the column so any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brawley

    Brawley -

The column removal process is covered step-by-step on pages 9-10 through 9-12 in the 1967 Chassis Service Manual. It's not a daunting task - can be done in about ten minutes from where you are now.

          Brawley,
I created those papers based on the Saginaw Steering Gear steering column assembly drawings and the 1967-68 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manuals. I don't own a 67 or 68 Vette. So any additions, corrections, observations, etc from your hands-on experience would be greatly appreciated.
