    Daniel,

My first guess would be that one or more of your rotors has some surface rust and is binding on the caliper pads. Check that first before you rip apart an original car.

Dan,also Check To See If The E/brake Cable Is Stuck On .as A Last Resort Blairs Does Rebuild You Rear Arms If You Mail To Them. While Apart Check The U-joints, Remember If These Are Orig. And In Are Good Working Order, Leave Them Alone.

You do not want to exchange those with a vendor, if needed rebuild your original ones. The supports have a date code on them and your arms may be a lot better then any you swap for.
I would look over my thread on this job to give you an idea of what's involved and the correct way to set them up.

As stated you may not have a bearing problem but you want to know.

Bair's is the one place I know will rebuild and send yours back, may be others, but they do a LOT of them. Can also have your dated calipers redone. 814-683-4223 talk to Brian.

Thank you Gary. I read your article with great interest. Thanks again for the information. I'm going to start on the car this coming weekend for the initial inspection and take a look at the e-brake cable. If the bearing(s) is bad, it should be clearly evident via run out? Also, when looking at the u-joints on the half shafts, they too should be easily detected if bad? Can these u-joints be disassembled cleaned and repacked with grease then replaced?? These have no grease zerk on them. 44 years is a long time. Thanks again. Dan K.

                  Dan,
I would look close at everything as mentioned. If you need U-joints I only use Spicer solids, from 200 hp to over 1000 hp builds. If I can help you just let me know. Don't try and rebuild old joints. I have a thread on joint replacement on the digital site you should look over as well.

                    Dan,

Bair's is an excellent choice for getting your trailing arms rebuilt. They have been in the business of building trailing arms (owners originals) for many years with thousands of satisfied customers.

Call Yogi or Brian at 1 800 421-9644 and tell them you have been referred by the NCRS technical board.

Oh yes, that screachhhhhhh your hearing is probably a broken spring on the E-brake shoes. And it's going to ruin your rotor if you don't get it repaired.

Thank you Joe. I appreciate your knowledge on what may be happening with the car.

That's all I need is more to fix/replace. The car is not going to move until I can get under it and start taking things apart. Again, thanks for your help. Dan K.

Dan, the trailing arms may look excellent but, check for a uniform thickness of the metal. If it appears swollen in areas then there is rust. It may feel solid, but it is not. Don't mess with trailing arms. For about $390 + or - you get a new set from Bairs that look identical to the originals. Remember safety first.

Thank you Harry. Safty is always rule number 1. I won't be moving the car until I can determine just what is going on. This car is worth the time and energy to get the work completed correctly. Thanks again. Dan K.
