Unless the bushings are unusually worn, just try some silicon lubricant. I also use Aerospace Protectant 303 on the weatherstrip. It has both a lubricating and preserving function.

      Terry,

Do you have a source for the Aerospace Protectant 303?

Aerospace Protectant 303 is commonly available from boat supply stores, one of the hardware chains -- I think it is True Value, but it might be ACE -- some of the FLAPS or on the net:

I use it on all the vinyl and weather strip on ALL the cars -- old & new. It does a remarkable job of keeping the weather strip ice free on those four cars that are parked on the street daily. There was a thread on the subject a couple of months ago, although I no longer remember what the subject of that thread was.

          Hi Don,
I you decide to replace the center alignment bushings Paragon does carry them.
If you take the housings off the center brace you can easily push the bushings out from the back of the housings. If you don't want to remove the housing, you can probably pry the old ones out with a very fine bladed screwdriver.
As usual... one catch... the originals are white, the repros are black. I won't tell!
          Regards,
          Alan

            Don,
My 72 Coupe Did The Same Thing I Used Dilectric Grease(same Stuff On Spark Plug Wires) On The Nylon Bushings And A Ever So Lite Coat On Weather Strips- Works Great For That Squeek Over Bumps, And Lasts For Awhile.
