had some NOS 58-62 window regulators and installed them in our 57. I knew the part #'s of the 56-7 differed from the 58-62 but i'm a hard head(and besides , i didn't have any 56-7 regulators tight enough to pass a PV). the late c-1 regulators go right in the 56-7 doors without modifying the tracks or doors themselves and the windows wind up completely BUT the windows won't retract completely into the door like they should. reason is the toothed part of the regulator is attached to the main arm of the regulator at a different angle. by removing one of the two rivets securing the toothed piece to the main piece and moving to the correct angle(and then spot welding the toothed piece to the main piece) the regulators work perfectly. as an aside, i purchased some new nylon rollers and shoulder rivets and installed them in an old regulator. the repo's i got(from an Oldsmobile dealer) are way too sloppy to effect a tight window in a c-1. mike

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
the nylonj rollers and their rivets/shoulder pins came off ebay. there is a guy who regularly ads for them on ebay under 1957 oldsmobile. i didn't measure the angle since i had an original 57 regulator. i just changed the 58 up regulator to the same angle as the 57 regulator. unfortunatly, i've since installed the 58 up modified regulators in my 57 and have the door panels back on so it'd be a pita to measure them at this point. regards,mike- Top

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
I have a question about these n.o.s. 58-62 window regulators. I saw a few n.o.s. regulators at the Kissimmee meet last month and there have been several on EBay lately. With the price that the vendors are getting for rebuilding your old ones, would a person be better off picking up a pair of these "n.o.s." regulators or are they a later service part that is not as good as the originals? Thank you for your feedback!

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
Hi Mike,
Grossmueller's web site shows outright $400.00 / exchange $250.00 for rebuilt regulars. I would hope that would be for a pair!
I was just curious if the n.o.s. ones that are out there at swap meets and on EBay are as good as the originals? The regulators for my 1960 were missing, so it looks like if I find a good deal on a pair of n.o.s., I should probably pick them up!
Thank You

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
I was able to pick up a set from Carlisle (3 years ago) for 250.00. These were still in the NOS bag. If I remember the driver side regulator is harder to find since these were replaced more often than the passenger.- Top

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
Lets see some pictures... I am in the same boat with my restoration. Hopefully, this weekend, I can have the rear chassis completed. It depends upon whether or not some parts come in from CC.
This weekend, I will share some pictures.- Top

Re: 56-62 window regulators.
I will try to upload a few pictures of my 1960 project! This is my first time trying to add pictures so wish me luck! There should be one of the restored fuel injection waiting to be installed on the engine and the other of the body waiting for attention at the bodyshop!
