What is the best way to paint the center section ribs? Is semi-gloss black correct and are the rib tops painted or natural aluminum?

Here's my 67 door sills being painted:

That SEM's Trim Black is really tough stuff and just the right finish. It is like an enamel, so you have to strip the sill bare of any underlying lacquer.
