        I found another 1-owner that had a metal cap and it was from St. Louis. I also ran into a girl who was born in 1980 and her dad purchased and saved a new 1980 and gave it to her on her 19th birthday. It had the metal bronze color metal cap.

        I don't have a one owner 1981; I only have the gas cap from such a car. I do have a one owner 1969 and one owner 1992, though.

            Michael,

            Yes, my air cleaner lid does have a gasket in the lid. It is black rubber, very soft and spongy.
