    Radio died

    On saturday my radio in my 67 died. I have power to the radio but no sound no crackel nothing. i removed the dash side paneels and find no lose wres or any oth evidence of something wrong. Any thing further or is it just dead?

    It might just be the on-off switch Bill. That's a very common problem as the contacts corrode. My 67 did it too.

    Does the dial lamp still come on and off when you twist the switch? The radio and lamp each have a separate set of contacts in the same switch housing so that's not a conclusive test.

    If you don't find another problem and want to do a continuity check on the switch, drop me a note and I'll talk you through it. It's not hard but you'll have to pull the radio.

    Also, the switch can almost always be repaired avoiding the painful cost of a whole new control.

      I had the same problem recently, and found that one of the speaker contacts had fallen off.

        Thanks i know what i will be doing this weekend. I will pull the radio and check the speaker and control connections. It seems like the space under the dashboard has gotten smaller in the last 20 years.
