    Restorer CD problem

I just treated myself to a copy of the Restorer articles on CD for my '66 and can't for the life of me get it to run. Admittedly, I'm not a computer guru, but I called my son (who is) and he couldn't figure what's going on. I'm running Vista and keep getting a message in the menu bar "Authorware (Not Responding)". Any insight before I call for authorization to return the CD?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

    Re: Restorer CD problem

    Jeff,
Below is the fix for Vista as described by Eric Mortimer a while back. A search of the archives came up with his message.

    Hi Everyone,
I'm betting that the CD "stopped working" when you switched to Microsoft Vista...?

In Microsoft's war to make their programs as secure as possible- Vista and the program that runs the CD don't get along well. The CD tries to access some dll (as I remember) files, and Vista doesn't like that, even though it's harmless.

    Easy workaround...
    1. Right click on the executable file (.exe) on the CD-rom.
    2. Run the program as "Administrator" (or some very similar choice).
    3. Ignore Vista's dire warnings of the world coming to an end.
    4. Have fun using the info on the CD.

    Best,
    Eric Mortimer

Do you guys or anyone else know whether the CD's work on MAC's? Thanks.

        Vinnie,
Thanks for the info. It did the trick (although the CD takes its sweet time loading, and I do have to dumb down my resolution settings to 600x800 to get a full screen). It sure would be helpful if the NCRS store provided these directions with each CD.

        Kirk,
I can't answer with authority, but somewhere in my frustration in trying to get this to run, I came across a screen with directions for Mac users. You may want to call the NCRS store to verify that.

        Thanks again!
        Jeff
