... and if the rear of the bearing shells are stamped "GMM" (representing General Motors Moraine), it means they're likely original since VERY few folks replaced bearings with GM bearings due to cost of same (except for me; I always used "GMM" bearings when they were available and I've got a "lifetime" supply for the future).

It's been apart before - the rod caps are stamped/match-numbered adjacent to the parting line, and the factory didn't do that.

RIP cricket - he had a helluva ride!

Yea John, I noticed that this afternoon. The bore is standard though. I pulled the cam out. I don't recognize the markings. Any ideas? On the back end: 150 MF13 and somthing I can't make out
        Between lobes: C2 D2
Looks like a cast date with screw heads but only" K"

"CWC" is a company that is one of the if not the largest manufacturer of camshaft CORES. They manufacture them for GM as well as many other auto makers and aftermarket cam manufacturers. Generally, in days of yore, they manufactured "generic" cores. So, none of the casting marks between the lobes will identify the specific cam. It could be a GM cam, though, of later SERVICE origin with a CWC-source core. Or, it could also be an aftermarket cam, either a clone of your original or otherwise..

At the time that your engine was originally built, most GM cams were ground from specific cores cast in GM foundries and machined at the engine plants. Your original cam would have had the "3972182" or "2182" cast between the lobes. There would also have been a "square" casting symbol to be found. As I say, though, in later SERVICE the specific, GM-cast cam cores were dropped and "CWC" generic cores used. With these cores, any small block cam could be ground from the same core.

Check the ends of the cam for a stamped number. Very often, GM (and even aftermarket) cams will have an identifying number stamped on one of the ends.

The only thing on the end is 150 and after looking again it looks like two idenitical logos, a C with a M inside it and between them M13

The "MF 13?" (which is likely "MF 130) identifies the cam. However, it's an aftermarket identifier and I can't decode it. I've seen these "MF" stamped cams before but I just can't recall what manufacturer used it. It's pretty common, though, so I expect it's one of the major manufacturers.

I think I see #s stamped on the rod and cap to indicate the rod to crank journal location and to mate the cap to the same rod. This would be done by a rebuilder not the factory.
