    Balancing Weights??

Im restoring a 66 to NCRS standars and i just purchased gold lines from Kelsey Tires. Do i need to have balancing weights put on the tires and if so, which side should they go on.
    Thanks

Balance weights go on the wheels not tires and on the inside of the rim only.
Use of ounce weights only no metric grams.

yes, of course-rims, not tires. Is there a certain place that i should purchase the weights from or should the local firestone installer have them available?
      Thanks for the help!

Balancing weights can go on inside or outside for '66

        Christopher,

For '66 the wheel balance weights can be placed either on the inside or the outside of the rim. If you don't want to get a deduct during judging the wheel weights should be period correct for '66. I wrote an article for the Restorer a few years ago that shows several of the weights that are correct for mid-year cars. You can occasionally find correct used weights, e.g., Micro, for sale on e-bay. Any wheel weight with both the US and metric weight designations embossed on the weight is incorrect for '66.

For corvettes using trim rings, its best to install weights on inside, sometimes they will be positioned at a (oem style) ring clip and will not allow clip to fasten to rim. Steve
