While working on cleaning up a friends nice red original paint '66 small block coupe, we removed the bumpers to clean up lots of red over spray behind the grill and on the passengers side horn. We have not seen any evidence of body damage, but the car has most definitely been touched up by someone for some reason. We did notice a large black stamped "O" in the area behind the grill. I don't know if this means anything to anyone, could it be a factory marking indicating need for paint work at the factory? By the way, this is a very original base motor side pipe coupe.

Re: Factory marking?
Sounds like dealership to me. Factory touch up spent extra time masking off area to be affected by overspray. John Hinkley might know.......he was there.Over 80 Corvettes of fun ! Love Rochester Fuel Injection 57-65 cars. Love CORVETTE RACE CARS
