1977 YJ8 and Sport Mirror Availability

What dates were the YJ8 aluminum wheels and Sport Mirrors not available and then available again in the Fall of '76?

I ordered my '77 August 6, 1976 and included the wheels and mirrors on the order but the car was delivered about three months later without them due to a shortage. Within a couple of months after taking delivery I was able to get them over the counter but had to pull some strings for the wheels.

    Thanks!

    Steve

    Interesting...

I cannot contribute to answering your question (unfortunately) - but I wonder how your Chevy dealer/GM carried on with this. Did they charge you for the car WITHOUT those two options, or did they re-fit the car with the mirrors (sounds like the wheels were far from getting refitted lateron) as soon as they got available later, then?

Oliver, the dealer was notified before assembly that the options were not available due to a shortage of those parts. The dealer asked me IF I wanted to delay the order or have it built without mirrors and wheels options. He advised it could be a delay of up to 2-3 months for the wheels and probably less for the mirrors. He told me he would order wheels and mirrors through parts as soon as they were available. I told him to build without. I got the mirrors through parts and wheels before they reentered production and paid the dealer his cost for both. He was a great guy who sponsored our Corvette club and had a Goodwood Green '67 coupe himself.
