1969 Audio Alarm Key / Envelope

I am wondering if 1 or 2 keys for audio alarm were delivered with the car (I assume 2) and were they in a seperate envelope. The JG says a white envelope for keys / puch outs. I have an envelope, PN# 3850956, that I don't know what it was for. See picture, has staple holes through flap area.

My 1969 #19320 produced 3/17 had 2 keys with a bubba wire and a inventory type tag with the serial # and key # handwritten. The RPO code was stamped on the tag. Sally and I had ordered the car and took delivery of the car new on 3/19/69.

      John,
Wow, when you bought that car in 1969 I bet you didn't expect to still have it 40 years later! I'm curious about your car, please list your options. Is it unrestored? I might have more questions for you. My build is early January 69.

This is one of my favorite cars. I didn't think we would keep the car more than a couple of years and expected it to become a drag race car. Options: Tinted glass, air conditioning, 350 HP, four speed, side mounted exhaust, am/fm radio black/black. It is a unrestored car which was one of the first campaigned C3s. Its received the Duntov, Five Star Bowtie, Surviver, Bloomington Gold and Benchmark.

Jeff -- hang on to that envelope -- it is for the rear license screws. The left side of it will show signes of perforations and is where the envelope for front license screws used to be. The key envelope is white.

On my 1970 2 alarm keys came with the car. The dealer gave me an inexpensive fake leather key holder with the dealership logo on it. It had three keys in it. The white envelope came with the other set of three keys and the knock-outs from the two car keys (no knock-outs on the alarm key).

Although I am sure there were instructions to the dealers as to what they were to do to present these items to the new car purchaser -- the dealers did a lot of things on their own. When one gets down to this level of detail there is wide latitude to the term "normal dealer new car preparation."

            Thanks John / Terry,
Terry you always seem come through. I'm glad the newer NCRS members have the benefit of some original owners like you guys. It's like a museum on wheels and you guys are the historians / tour guides. I have many more questions so stay tuned...

Tour Guide -- I hadn't thought of it that way. I like that idea.

                  Terry,
I'll have to disagree with you on this one. The attached photo shows the front and rear licence plate screw envelope as original.(attached together). I believe the attached envelope was used in the 67 or 68 to 74 or 75 vintage.

John, That's a classy setup you received for the alarm keys, that's too funny.... yet interesting.

Dave - The envelope I posted does have a perforation along the left side where it was torn away. Are you saying the envelope you posted is the only part number used for all years? If not, what year car do those envelopes belong to?

                      Jeff,
I would say that anything is possible but I am only familiar with the envelope that I posted for the licence plate screws. I believe it is correct for at least 69-72 and most likely a year or two earlier and/or later. There are others that frequent this board that could offer insight into this.

The envelope that Dave posted looks like my 1969 original.

Nice alarm key tag John. I didn't get one of those -- at least not that I remember or saved.

I think there were a couple of different designs of license plate screw envelopes. We don't see enough of them to be sure of the application for them. I suspect most of the envelopes were disposed of by the mechanic installing the tag(s). I also believe those who regularily judge interiors know more about these things than I do.
