Attached is a picture of a print that I bought in 2002 at Hot August Nights from a vendor of automoblia. He couldn't tell me anything about it except that maybe it was from a calendar. It measures approx 12''x22''. There is no date on it. The artist 's name looks like JB Daneen. I love this picture and would like to purchase another one. I would like a professional to put my liscense plate number on it, as well as a fuel injection emblem. The interior would need to be changed to Saddle. Lastly, I would like a baseball cap on the drivers head ( I am bald and wear a baseball cap 99% of the time). The girl can stay as she is, she doesn't look too bad. I think you can see where I am going with this. That would be me driving my car to a Seafair Hydroplane race in Seattle. It would be between heats when they pull out the old hydros, Miss Thriftway, Thriftway 11, Miss Bardahl, Miss Madison, Hawaii Kai, the Slo-Mo-Shuns, and so on and so on, for the anual nostalgic race. Did I tell you that I love this picture. It takes me back in time every time I look at it. Anybody got any ideas or help. I guess I could take it out of its frame for reproducing it but then what? Thanks, Perry

Re: Help with auto art idendification
Perry,
I agree with the suggestion of contacting Dana Forrester, but as to your picture, and based on its size/style/content, I'd say it's a GM promotional product usually displayed in dealerships during the model year. These were often hung high around the showroom walls and depicted each of the new models for the year. I've seen several for sale here and there, but never a Corvette. If it is indeed an original GM litho it's a great collectible!

Re: Help with auto art idendification
Perry,
If Grant's suggestion is correct that this is a GM promo piece, you might check with John Hinkley.
A while back I gave him a book that reviewed 70 years of GM advertising efforts by Cambel Ewald. I am pretty sure he still has it. It might be in there, which might give you a clue as to where to go.
Failing that, find a photo shop guy and have at it.
