    Service battery

    I need a Delco service battery for my '69 427 L36. I think this would be the Delco 78-6YR CCA770. Is this indeed the correct type for a top post battery (which has the pos and neg connection on the correct site)?

      Rob,

      If you want to go one step further you could purchase the gel cell verision of your original battery at Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, Ohio. Their website is http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/ I did for my '68 and it does not need any type of charging over the winter and cranks well everytime. It is completely maintainence free but still looks like the original. They will date code it too.

          I don't see a battery listed for my '69 car, gel cell or conventional. I'll send them a request to figure out if they can deliver such a battery...
