I've got a '65 front grille with "D&L" stamped on the lower stainless steel molding. Does anybody know if this could be or is the name of the OEM supplier?

Re: 1965 Front Grille - Question
Thanks Brian. I'm actually not looking to buy a repro. I bought my '65 coupe a few years ago and I'm in the process of "cleaning up" the front end. I took the grille out and noticed the "D&L" stamped in the lower molding. . . Don't know if the grille is an original or not. Just thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew . . . . . .- Top

Re: 1965 Front Grille - Question
The original production supplier of the '65 grille was Douglas & Lomason (still in business, have been since 1902).

Re: 1965 Front Grille - Question
Ray -- Can you be a little more specific ? side facing (up); ie. horizontal black bars, or facing fiberglass (down) ? near the middle or closer to drive or passenger side ? how tall are the letters ?
I too have an original '65 grille on my bench; had a quick look and can't see anything.- Top

Re: 1965 Front Grille - Question
Ray ---FOUND IT. Was on driver side outside surround end piece, facing fiberglass. If this is the same location as yours and all other originals, it merits becoming an item looked for during judging. On the other hand, if it was applied at random locations ..
.
Pics are off a grille that had some front end damage, road rash, etc.
Thanks for pointing out this stamping (sure beats our fixation on bolt head markings
).

Re: 1965 Front Grille - Question
Wayne, The grille on my '65 has "D&L" stamped on the lower molding, in two places. The "other" '65 grille that came as an"extra" part when I bought the car, has the "D&L" stamped on the outside surround piece, identical to yours. Sounds like Douglas & Lomason stamped their logo in two different locations (at least) . . . .- Top

Just took my 65 out of storage this weekend. Using a mirror, I also found the D&L stamp on the lower molding but mine was only stamped on the lower left side.
