I have June built 67 BB A/C coupe and the shroud extension has the 6 tabs, but they are very short and no evidence that they were broken off and each tab is about same length. The lower main shroud has the notches for the tabs but they were not sawed out either. Is it possible assembly line workers were moving fast that day and just buzzed off the tabs and fitted it on?

Re: 67 AC fan shroud extension
Tom - In reading the 67 AIM, UPC C60, SHEET B2.5, the NOTE indicates information about the slots but there is no specific direction to perform an operation , i.e. open the V-grooves and make them slots. We know the fan shrouds initially came with the V grooves, so if the fan ring was to be installed on C60 equipped small block cars they were there as guides for locations for the fan ring tabs. There is information that the fan ring was to be installed on sb C60 Corvettes but apparently that didn't always happen either (sorry Dale) but aside of the NOTE there is no explicit direction to the assembly line worker that the V-grooves should be slotted out, so sometimes they were (my Sept 66 base motor C60 Corvette fan shroud has very nice slots for the fan ring tabs) and I'm sure sometime they were not.
So, if the fan shroud on your C60 car is the original one and the V-grooves aren't slotted out I'd leave it because it's original. But, it's your car so you get to make the executive decision. Pete- Top

Just to add to Peters post, my very early Sept. car has the slots and full tabs on the ring- Top

Re: 67 AC fan shroud extension
My car had the slots and the nut plates were still in the retangular holes. The extention (junk) repro dealer will remain unnamed. If anyone knows of a original or a decent repro I would be interested. Thank you Dale- Top

Re: 67 AC fan shroud extension
Thomas,
The replacement from GM did not have the slots cut in the shroud. The original extention had very small tabs and was a pretty sloppy fit to an original shroud.
Sounds like you may have the original extention and an early replacement shroud. Cut the slots in the shroud and be proud that both are original GM issue.
