The rear window latches for my 69 coupe need to be rebuilt. The chrome is good, but I need the spring, rivets, and rubber gasket. Does anyone know if parts are available to rebuild these units? Thanks, Mark

Re: 69 rear window latch---rebuildable?
Terry,
Both of my latches have small black springs inside the mechanism. the rivets would have to be removed, and the assembly taken apart to replace them. I could probably make a new rubber bumper for them, and leave the spring as is. Mark- Top

Re: 69 rear window latch---rebuildable?
Hi Mark,
I think the trick is going to be finding the rivets with that head and a long shank. On my 71 they look like they're hollow, yours too? Have you looked at Carr-McMaster for them?
I made new bumpers for mine but have had a problem keeping the bumper stuck on. The latch closes in such a way that it wants to 'sweep' the bumper off the latch pad. Plus, the chrome is so smooth on the pad the glue isn't too interested in sticking to it.

Re: 69 rear window latch---rebuildable?
Mark,
My apologies -- I see there is a spring in there. When the latch is open it pushes the latch toward the front of the car. Probably to keep it from rattling when the window is out.
The rubber "pad" has a locating teat that passes through the hole in the face of the latch. I'm sure that helps retain the rubber pad in place.
We will have to add checking the operation of the latches to the PV manual.
Thanks for helping me learn something new.Terry- Top
