Headrest Foam Replacement

Can anyone provide me with some "how to" tips on replacing the foam in my 67 headrests?
I just received a set of new covers and new foam pads but the foam looks a little bigger than the covers and I am not sure how to stretch the covers over the foam pads. Do I install the metal support into the foam first and then try to stretch the covers over top or do I put the foam pads into the covers first and then try to install the metal support into the foam?

You can put the foam on the framework then cover the foam with a thin plastic bag or the best thing is the plastic that your suit/clothing comes in when you get it back from the cleaners wrap it so there is no air leaks, take a vaccum cleaner and suck the air out of the bag/the head rest foam will compress, while it is compressed slip the cover over the foam, when the cover is over remove the vaccum and the foam will return to its original state then pull the plastic out and your on your way. Or use a heat gun to warm the cover but be careful you dont get it to hot then strecth the cover over carefully. Good luck Mike 1787

Thanks for the tip Mike. The foam pad seems very hard and and is not a soft sponge like foam so I don't think it will compress much when the air is removed but I will certainly try your method and will use the hairdrier to heat and stretch the covers as well.
