Pat Krause, Pat's Locks, I know sets up at Corvettes of Carlise. You might search this forum for his contact info. Another good contact is Peter Lindahl, a frequent poster here. Either of them is considerably cheaper that the better advertised locksmiths.Dick Whittington- Top

Recoding door and alarm locks
Bill,
The question to ask any locksmith is can they recode the door and alarm locks and preserve the original stainless steel bezel? Original bezels are swaged over the entire 360 degrees on the back side, whereas replacement bezels have 4 tabs that are bent over. Sooo, a careful inspection of a recoded door or alarm lock will often reveal the use of the replacement bezel. It is very difficult to remove an original bezel without damaging it and very difficult to re-swage it so that it is tight.
The glove box lock and spare tire lock are trivial to recode by comparison.
Let us know what you find out when you ask about the bezels on the door locks and alarm lock. I'm curious to know what the locksmith will say.
