    More pics.

Historical Perspective: I got offered $1000 for the whole car 40 years ago, and I thought that was a generous offer...

I do like finding that aloof part here and there, but it does get very taxing after a while I wish I could buy a spot on piece off the big guys once in a while. I guess most people who buy car parts don't get there cars judged so the manufacturers just pop it out close enough is good enough.

Is ANYONE aware that these jacks came with new EARLY 50s 1/2ton Chevy pickups (maybe GMC also)?
MANY years ago, a friend of my uncle (Mom's older brother) sold me the one that is in my 56 for $10. He said it was attached to the inner fender of his 52 Chevy pickup when he bought it new. For some reason it didn't go with the truck when he sold it and just got kicked around in his garage for years. I had been half-heartedly looking for some kind of a scissors jack and he told me about the one he had. As soon as I saw it, I knew what it was. I couldn't get the $10 out of my wallet fast enough!!!!!!
Soooooooooooooo, my point? Check out all the old Chevy pickups you see rotting away out in the field!

Ian I believe the steel handle (winder) is also a different gauge. There is lots a judge can look at on a jack to tell you it isn't fooling him. These guys look at thousands of them, it's going to be hard yards to modify a complete jack.

Hey Tom, I got a story to go along with you finding a jack for $10. I found the correct jack for my 1960 corvette at Bloomington a few years ago. I hadn't found a handle yet and while walking through a friends barn where he stores his cars, I saw a handle laying on a shelf. I asked him what it was for and he said he thought it came from a farm truck he used to own. I told him it looked alot like the ones I had seen for an early corvette and he gave it to me. I took it along to Bloomington last year and matched it up to several original ones on the show field. It has the same measurements and bends and looks to be spot on! The rivet had been replaced by a bolt, but NCRS member Paul Mazut recently has put a rivet back in for me and restored my antenna. The package with them both will be back today! I can't wait to see them!
