Thanks for sharing the pics! Inspecting head markings on bolts has its place but lets face it, this is the stuff that got us all going in the first place!

More would be great, love to know where they are now.................

Bill,
In the first picture posted there is a 61 behind the Great Bear 63 coupe.
That 61 was driven and owned by Dick Moroso and ran B/MP.
He held NHRA and AHRA records in C/MP and D/MSP.
I understand that the car is now owned by his son Rick Moroso who also runs the Moroso business and races Corvettes.

Here is a shot of my 63 at Motor City Dragway in New Baltimore, Mi. back in 1965. I still have the car today but I took it back to stock like it was when I took delivery of it in Oct. of 62 with FI, metallic brakes & no radio.

Bob first time I have seen a clear top on a 63. What was your best time and speed?

The clear top on Bobs car looks like the top on the beautiful black 63 roadster at Kissemee.

To answer your question Bruce yes that is the same top in the Drag race picture as the one at Kissemee. The real differance as you can see is that I resored the car back to all original as it was when I bought it.

Not a drag car, but the attached photo has a few corvettes getting ready for the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in 1960. My 1960 is the second one back #69. The driver of my corvette was Al Daniels of Colorado Springs, finished 3rd in the unlimited sports car class!

Bob, I read your profile and finally understand where the "clear hardtop" came from.
Your car is beautiful. You have gone full circle with that car and it's an amazing feat.

The current Restorer cover car after winning class and eliminator bracket at Kahuku Hawaii on July 4, 1957. Cook and Bedwell, or Nehi Orange dragster, in background. Probably the most significant top fuel cars of 1957.



At El Mirage setting record on September 22, 1957. Doug Cooks 37 Chevrolet (Detroit NHRA Nationals 1959 C gas winner) in background. (later Stone Woods & Cook driver)



My 62 409 car at 1st NHRA World Finals - Tulsa 1965. Had the car at Bloomington Gold All Makes Survivor last year.

John, When you ran your car at Tulsa, Do you remember having your fuel checked? Myself and Dr. Dean Hill did the fuel testing there. Do you remember we had a hand held pump for pumping the gas out of the tank. Thanks for the pictures. There are 3 great Videos my sons gave me for Christmas. At that meet, my fuel was not checked. I did have a competitors fuel checked (it was OK). By memory I had my own fuel checked in 1969 (another car) I was using gas sold at the DX Sunray station at 51st & Yale. Blue in color and essentially 100 LL according to the person who was responsible for the blending. That failed your test. Is there a reason why that might have happened at that time? I remember the names Dale Ham,
Anderson, Chuck Nelson (sp) etc. as part of the Division 4 crew. Those were great times. Would you give more of your history and remembrances with regards to NHRA. PS I do go to the Nationals at Indy each Labor Day.
