Re: 2009 Corvette engine replacement and matching numbers.
Joe,
As you know the top VIN was made with a pinstamp machine. When I worked in an assembly plant this company made the machine. http://www.telesis.com/pinstamp.htm
Don't know if they still use the same company.
Good info. I wondered how that stamp was created.Tom Hendricks

Re: 2009 Corvette engine replacement and matching numbers.
Someplace in the 1992 to 1996 range. There was a time when some engines were built using the straight line broach and some with a rotary broach. Now all I have to do is remember when I was there and saw that. I might have to email some of my traveling friends.Terry- Top

Thanks for the 'heads up' Terry. When these do make their way to the St Charles venue, they can slip right on by... at the St C venue, we don't look for the stampings.... mark them 'Obscured' ; they cannot be judged without removing equipment, so they get a pass!

But I can't use the manual at St Charles. And guess who will get the job of writing the C6 manual(s)?
Hey nice to see you on here, Guy. Glad you got my message. Even if it is not useful right away (like in a few months) I still think it is neat to see "How they do it." As someone said -- it is a far cry from the old days.Terry- Top

Re: 2009 Corvette engine replacement and matching numbers.
Good information and Photos.
We had to have the Engine replaced in our 2003. When I asked my dealer and people at the Engine Plant in St. Catharines, where the Engines are built, about "NEW" numbers they knew nothing about such procedures.- Top
