    midyear hardtop value

thinking of selling my hardtop 66-67 and wondering what they are going for these days. As I don't keep up with the hobby anymore I am clueless.
top is painted but has no rear glass or any trim....however, I have all stainless trim, and new rear glass, only needs weathstrip to assemble, any price imput would be appreciated....thanks.

    Michael,
There seems to be a wide range for hardtops. I've seen them from $700-2500. I bought one two years ago for $800 that needed restored. If you check on Ebay or do a search on the Corvette Forum that may give you a better idea. Good luck, Shooter

Hardtops are a PITA to own, store and sell. I always figured they are worth $500 for good mid-year top. Yes, I know they can sell for more but that's all they were worth to me. Last 2 good tops I sold last year brought $500 for one and $600 for the other. Both sold quickly.

A disassembled mid-year top is worth half that amount in my opinion. Tops are a royal PITA to put together. Just buy a good one to begin with!

C1 tops are a completely different issue. They are worth 3 times the amount of a mid-year top.

Everyone "thinks" they must have a hardtop for their convertible. The reality is that rarely if EVER are hardtops ever installed on the owners car.

      Hardtop's are highly overated!!!

I agree Michael. I sold my non-used one in great shape for $500 at the Florida Regional. Was glad to see it go as I am sure the buyer was glad to get it for $500.

        Cheers,
        Craig

In 23 years I've had the hardtop on my '59 bolted on a total of 3 times. Once when I bought the 2-top car, the next 2 times when we moved. I think they're great for a HT only car though.

On a solid axle I think they look better with the hard top. I don't have that strong of opinion on the mid year roadster appearance. When I drove mine as a everyday car, the hard top was REAL nice in the winter. Don H.

Michael, I listed a non-restored, but pretty nice midyear hardtop on eBay about a year ago. I listed it with a minimum starting bid price of $500, but added a buy-it-now price of $1,000. It sold in about two hours, on the buy-it-now price. The couple drove about 300 miles to pick it up.
                Good luck, Ridge.

I really like the look of any Corvette with it's H-Top in place, especially C1 and C2.

I agree. I use the hardtops on my 61 and 65 from October through March in New England. Makes a dramatic change in the appearance of the cars and keeps them warmer when driving on those cool days when the roads are good enough to be driven on.

Just remember to duck when you go over a bump with the hardtop in place on a solid axle

                        Re: midyear hardtop value

I have seen many Hardtops for sale over the years and always wondered who would buy them. Of course, there are probably a lot of owners who are not NCRS members and want it for practical upgrade in the colder climates, but I can't imagine any restored or judgable car being modified to install one if it wasn't factory equipped that way.

As for me, back in the day up north, I had mine on every winter even though I drove it in bad weather very rarely. Since about 1976, I have not used it as the car became a Summer only car. I always had to find a way to store it and chose the hanging overhead method. It has been hanging in 4 garages now. I only put it on to move with the car.

i find any mid year top with vinyl brings the best price even though it was a 67 only option. i recently saw one with out the seams go north of $1000 and correct fair cond ones go for $1500. i recommend you buy a vinyl kit for $189 and put it together with new gaskets for $300 and sell her off. the advantage you will have more buyers and color is not an issue.if you do not vinyl it primer it as color prejudices the buyers. i have followed these prices because i have 2 and will sell one when i decide which i am keeping.

Bill may on to something here. That top I mentioned in the earlier post, that sold so quickly for $1K, had a vinyl top applied to it. It was however, a 1965 top as seen by the headliner, and rear glass date code.

                              Hardtop fit

I'm afraid to use my hardtop because the side brackets hit the decklid paint during installation. The spread is too wide.

Maybe the top is tweaked. Don't know its history.

Anybody had this issue and fixed it by bending the sides in??
