Can anyone help me with FedEx issue?

    Hi,
I sent my '62 Wonder bar to get serviced, and FedEx ground crushed it on the return trip from SC repair shop to NY.
The sender reused my double boxes and multiple layers of bubble wrap, but as you can see FedEx placed something very heavy like a skid on my box and crushed one side of the radio.
I had insured it for $850, but the FedEx claims dept won't even look at the claim. They keep saying that they haven't received the claim forms etc... (three weeks) but they have been sent several times, and the FedEx employees sometimes slip-up by referring to something mentioned in the forms that were sent to them.
We aren't even looking for the full amount, just what it costs to fix it.
Can anyone help out, anyone work for them?

    Thanks,

    Paul

I don't know that this will work, but I had a similar problem getting the US mail to pay a claim for a few hundred dollars on a crushed, and destroyed package. They kept stalling, phone call, after phone call, to the St.Louis headquarters. One excuse after another. Finally, I had a belly full, and asked for the correct mailing address for lawsuit paperwork to be delivered. I meant it. I was so sick of them, I would have paid twice the claim amount in legal fees.
Once I asked for the mailing address, they decided to pay the claim. I got a settlement check in the mail in three days.
    Good luck, Ridge.

Paul,my advice is to send forms again, registered mail, return receipt requested, better yet FedEx them. Be ready to fight and be patient. Your radio is just another shipment to them, claims people will try and wait you out. Stay calm and be ready to wait. They have no emotional attachment to the contents,to them it is just another claim...

        Paul,
Keep a journal of all phone calls, when made, who you talked to and what was said, along with your photos.
A journal (such as a DayTimer) will hold up in a court of law.
As mentioned, any paperwork should be registered mail, receipt requested, so someone there has to sign for it.
Carbon Copy mark at the bottom of cover letter....ie., cc (insert lawyer's name). (Always have a cover letter with their address, subject, your name and address, etc).
        And keep copies of everything.
On first attempt just resend paperwork.
Second attempt.....advise that your lawyer will be contacted if they do not respond within 10 working days (or whatever sounds reasonable to you).
Third attempt......contact whomever for address for your lawyer as Ridge suggested.
Of course, make no hint of a threat that you don't plan on carrying out if needed.
This has worked for me in a variety of circumstances through the years without actually having to pay a lawyer's fee.
        Best of luck, Sandy

The simple fact is INSURANCE from any carrier sucks. It's just a way to increase profits 50% and never pay any claims without a big bunch of crap. After being the buyer and the seller on claims and being told that the packaging was bad by USPS,UPS, and Fedx I gave up and NEVER pay insurance and wish everyone would quit also. I have saved enough by now to pay a $500. claim if neeeded and they can shove their rip off insurance because it's just a big argument I don't need. I like a hand to hand delevery on a radio like you mailed. I use the big swap meets to meet the vendor and exchange the parts for service in person. He sees what I have and I can see his work.

Thank goodness it wasn't UPS this time. They crushed my 61 radio a few years back and refused any payment.

            Good luck,

              Paul,

I had a similar problem a few years ago with a computer that I shipped via FedEx. The first person basically gave me a line of BS and stated they were not responsible. I asked to speak to his manager and explained the
situation, then his manager started spouting the same BS. I told the manager my next call was going to be to the president of FedEx. I had a check within 3 days. I don't even recall submitting a claim form. Hope that helps.

I had a similar issue with UPS. I paid to have the UPS store pack and ship the item, and it was destroyed in shipping. The UPS Store blamed UPS, and UPS blamed the UPS store. Finally got fed up and gave them 48 hours to have a check in my mailbox, or I would file in small claims. UPS sent the check, so I didn't have to file. I have some experience with small claims. No corporation wants to deal with small claims, since it costs them less to settle than to go to court. Sometimes it is easier just to file and wait for the inevitible phone call from their legal department wanting to settle. If you have a legit case, you will be amazed how quickly they will want to make it go away.

The SHIPPER must file the claim with F/X or UPS to get the money, not the recipient. If he did not insure it on the return trip, then his max is $100. Forget the lawyer stuff & have the repair shop fix it on their nickle, because F/X will want a copy of the bill. All he needs is for F/X is to see your pictures and fill out the form. Of course they will stall, but that's what they're paid to do "claim denial".
                  That's the way it works.

Re: Can anyone help me with FedEx issue?

Ken Peterson is 100% correct. The rest of the answers don't mean squat to Fed Ex. The SHIPPER whether it be UPS or Fed Ex reports the claim. He will then be faxed etc a claim form that he or she has to properly fill out.
I had an FI distributor destroyed during shipment x number of years ago. I filled out the claim form.
Then in about 6 weeks the shipper paid the claim minus shipping fees.
Now the shipping company wants to see the packing material and will send out an adjuster to look at it. Make sure the packing is up to par.

                          Tom,
I would have to agree on that point......although I have settled with FedEx in the past, I use nothing but USPS to ship artwork.
Doesn't hurt to have the postmaster as a friend and customer.....he knows how I crate my stuff and has taken care of all the rest. Have only lost one painting (in China), but he eventually tracked it down and have never had anything damaged. I know others have not been so lucky, but that's been my experience shipping with them all over the world.
                          Best, Sandy

Funny, around here, (Philly) it's UPS that destroys everything and FedEx is great, hardly a scratch. Also, USPS is very reliable and rarely is an item even touched let alone destroyed.

I have been using the USPS lately for shipping parts to be plated or restored and have had no problems. My restored 59 windshield stainless trim parts were returned to me via UPS. It looked like the bottom of the package had been standing in water soaking the bottom half of the parts. Fortuneatly, the parts were not damaged. It would have been a disaster if parts that could be damaged by water had been in the package.
