My wiper door will open and close and that is the extent of any activity on the part of my wipers.

Re: Wiper System Guidance
Don,
The first thing to check is the position of the knob in the center of the three controls under the steering column. I can't recall which direction it should be, but just turn it to the opposite direction of where it now is. See if that fixes the problem.
If not, the next step is to check the fuse for the wipers. That will be labeled in the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side. Be sure there is 12-volts on both sides of the fuse.
Those are the easy first steps -- after that it gets more complicated.Terry- Top

Re: Wiper System Guidance
I've been searching thru the archieves and also see there is some discussion on the bezel where the wiper switch attaches. My bezel is broken at the top left hand corner. Is there any easy way to remove and test the switch?- Top

Re: Wiper System Guidance
Good catch. Missing ground to the wiper switch will also cause "issues."
One can provide a good ground temporarily to the part of the instrument cluster the switch attaches to via a jumper wire with aligator clips on both ends.Terry- Top

"Is there any easy way to remove and test the switch?"
Yes, remove the switch, disconnect its wiring harness and ohm it out...
But, why "flog" yourself working in the blind this way? Crack open your copy of the 1969 Chassis Service Manual and navigate to Electrical-Body And Chassis, Section 12. Then, flip to the specific section covering Windshield Wipers & Washers, Corvette...
My hunch is you'll answer all the questions you could ask here by reading what GM wrote to support dealership factory service mechanics from the era!

Re: Wiper System Guidance
Hi Don,
Along with Jack's CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL suggestion, I found that Dr. R's TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE was helpful too. It's some good information for only a few $. It gives test procedures for each component in the systems.

Re: Wiper System Guidance
Don:
Aiso check the ground at the starter. The wipers on my '69 stopped working except when a door was open. Seems the ground at the starter was bad and the wipers were grounding through the alarm switches.

Re: Wiper System Guidance
Hi Don,
It's combined in 1 item.
Regards,
Alan
It doesn't trouble shoot the system operation as much as it allows you to test each component for proper function.71 Coupe, 350/270, 4 speed
