Re: 53 corvette plant employee reunion
Back in the 90's when SACE held it's convention we met some painters and inspectors and talked about the paint and gave out bricks from the plant before they tore it down. They all agreed that in 55 they did and painted a few 55's gray and did what ever it took to sell them in 1955 because they were mostly left over 54's. Noland was also asking many questions too!
That's me taking the pic's.

Re: 53 corvette plant employee reunion
The Corvette assembly plant workers (14 attended) got together at Noland Adams request at the 50th Aniversary Get together held by SACC in Flint Michigan in 2003. We met some of the original workers at the Corvette assembly plant and they also were invited to our banquet in Flint. Prior to the banquet some of the workers were taken on a road trip riding in 1953 Corvettes.
Nolands point in inviting the assembly plant workers was to honer them along with the designers and engineers who have received much attention in the past.
At the dinner some of them gave short speaches and answered questions, it was quite a gathering and sort of the culmination of a great celebration planned by Noland.
In addition Harley Earls grandson spoke along with John Hinkley and many others.
It was an event I will always remember.- Top

Re: 53 corvette plant employee reunion
Tom,
Check out www.solidaxle.org and click on 2003 Convention for pictures and information.
Yes, the Convention was fantastic.
One dissappointment was that GM pulled thier support in favor of another venue (Nashville?) which appealed to the newer Corvette owners from what I heard.

Re: 53 corvette plant employee reunion
Thanks Bruce !
I was looking for a particular picture that someone had blown up. It was a highly magnified view of the window sticker of the first car. Pretty neat photo. I also remember the reunion being included in the post. I just plain can't find it. I know it was here on our board too.Tom Hendricks
