C1 trivia again may interest you newbee's

Do you recall seeing a little hole in the floor of your Corvette. The one between your thigh and back of your knee. It covered with a rubber plug, using a flash light and a tooth brush you may be able to see your Vin Number stamped on the frame . Give it a try and you may be surprised

I removed the plug on my 59 today and could not see the serial number on the frame. Does the number run paralell or perpidicular to the frame? Also is the serial number towards the front or rear of the car?

To make it easier to see, sand the top of the frame, clean, then rub some white chalk on the top of the frame rail and wipe off excess. Don H.

Not sure if its always on the outboard side like mine?

I believe the holes were added mid '58.

I make it a point to print out most every one of Roy's C1 posts that show original vs repro or point out other facts and then add it to my AIM in a 3-ring binder. I've now almost doubled the size of that notebook with just Roy's posts alone. I find them both interesting and invaluable. And since the pics don't hang around forever on this board, it's vital for me to print the posts when they appear. Months later in the archives, the post shows without the pic and it isn't the same. One day I hope to meet you Roy and thank you in person. For hobby that has constant questions about repro vs original, nobody posts better clarifications and facts than Roy.

Steven, good point about the pictures. Everyone should use the paperclip to ATTACH their pictures. Then they will stay on the board indefinitely, since this means they are uploaded directly to the board, not some 3rd party picture hostign site.

For instance, Roy you have your picture hosted on photobucket. if you ever lose your account there, or something happens there, then the pics disappear from here. We should have a sticky on the board advising folks to always use the paperclip and upload them directly to the forum for posterity.

In this post I just uploaded Roy's pic to the TDB directly...
