I just found out that my carburetor is wrong for my car. my body date is july15,1971. My casting is 3970010 with date F161 june 16,1971. The stamp on the passenger side is the vin C11S121798 followed by VOo22CJL. Is that little 0 correct? Am I correct to assume my engine was assembled Feb. 2 1971? If it was then do I need a carb before that date? Thanks for the help. What do I look for when purchasing the carb in case I want to have the car judged.

Re: assembly date
Jim,
The carburetor was installed at St. Louis -- thus you need one dated in the six months before July 15.
If you can post a good close up of the pad we would be in a better position to assess it, but Cecil could be right.Terry- Top

I,for one, would be interested in all the other original dates you have found on that car. I'm going by memory, but I think there were only 3 more 71's built (21801?). My 21653 is just two days away from that one.
