    A/C Compressor rebuild?

Can anyone recommend a good shop to rebuild an OEM A/C compressor for an 86 Vette? What might a rebuild from a reliable shop cost?

I'm also looking to rebuilt my 75 Compressor. Two local shops quoted $350 & $450.

Again, can anyone recommend a good shop to rebuild an OEM A/C compressor to NCRS standards? Someone must have had an A/C compressor rebuilt somewhere

Check the March 30 thread. Old Air Products of Ft. Worth and Classic Air were listed.

        Good Luck!

I think I am missing something. What March 30th thread are you referring to?

Hi Peter! on March 30 Alger Rutz posted a thread asking who could rebuild AC. Responses were Old Air Products in Fort Worth and Classic Air. Old Air Products has rebuilt Corvette units.

              Re: A/C Compressor rebuild?

Thanks Dave. For what it is worth, I have contacted Classis Auto Air Mfg. in Tampa Florida (www.classicautoair.com) and they have assured me that they can rebuild my OEM compressor to factory specifications. Their price for the restoration is $325. They can also refurbish the accumulator for $80, but I think that I'll just buy a new one as the part has no serial # or date code on it.

My original compressor is working okay for now, but I detect a slight rattle in the bearing which tells me that sometime in the near future I'll need to address this issue. For now, I'll wait until after the Charlotte Regional and try to get it rebuilt before next year's National meet.
