    67 Front Frame Markings - Shim and *

    Does anyone have a picture of the markings at the front of their 67 frame. I think they should be shim markings and the an "X" or "*".

    Were their similar markings at the rear of the frame on a 67? Thanks.

      Thanks, those original marks are great. Anyone have some pics on a restored frame? Thanks.

          Bill,

          What about the X or star marking in multiple colors that Quanta talks about in their frame stencil kit? Is that suppose to be there or not? They show it in front of the shim marks in one of the diagrams in their booklet explaining how to mark your frame. Thanks.

              I asked a similar question regarding whether different colors were used for frame shim marking to the 1965 Judging Team leader via Email. I never heard a thing back from him.

              My question was;

              At the factory when a body shim location required an abnormally high number of shims say 6 or 7, was a single slash mark of a different color used indicate that 5 shims were needed and then a white slash mark after that for each additional shim above 5 that were required?

              There was one instance when I went to install shims back on the frame of a '65 convertible at the location below the sill plate that had 6 shims in that location originally when the body was removed. There were no shim marks left to see on the frame to identify what the number or slash mark color.

              Any input would be greatly appreciated.

              Thanks,

                What I was told there is no date written on '67 frames. '66 yes, '67 no. Does anyone have an unrestored '67 frame picture with a date written on it? PT

                  James -

                  That's because the frame shim determination fixture was near the beginning of the Frame Upside-Down Line (in the C2 era), and the convertible #2 body mount bracket wasn't welded on the frame until later in the process, on the Chassis Line, where the chassis was right-side-up; the #2 mount was "pattern-shimmed", or not shimmed at all.
